JOB MISSION:
This role leads and inspires in shaping the design direction for Performance Made in the USA footwear. Partners with product management, product development and the engineering teams to ensure we meet product creation milestones. Promotes design excellence through innovation to secure competitive advantages for the company. Leads and participates in the planning for future product design and manufacturing relevance, communicating a clear vision, and implementing strategies that drive long-term success and the achievement of New Balance goals. Design and provides fresh and innovative, market-right conceptualization and illustration of product to include the evolution of New Balance current Made manufacturing capabilities to support the introduction of performance product provided it meets or exceeds the Made in USA goals.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Actively participate in cross brand collaborations and is a proven triad member and design leader.
- Assist in setting Made Performance and Innovation design vision.
- Design statement level products that drive a category aesthetic
- Strong design influencer, mentor and collaborator.
- Meet key deadlines for projects and has a solid understanding of the product creation process and timelines.
- Carry a large project workload and leads by example and become an anchor designer for the category.
- Proven commercial market success with personal footwear projects across multiple product segments.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
- BA or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, and/or Fashion design or related area. Innovation, Engineering Degree is a plus
- Ability to apply Design for Manufacturability into material, component and product designs
- Minimum 8 years progressively more responsible footwear design experience. Minimum 8 years Industrial Design experience with innovation & manufacturing focus.
- Solid understanding of footwear design, construction, materials, sourcing and commercialization.
- Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, Rhino/3D a plus
- 2D-3D drawing by hand or computer and have ability to visualize

Flexible Work Schedule
